Leo's second decan covers 10° to 20° of the sign. Firmicus Maternus gives its face ruler, in the Chaldean order, as Jupiter, a benefic, a planet the tradition treats as supportive by nature. Leo's domicile lord, the planet that rules the sign, is the Sun. Jupiter follows Saturn, the first decan's face ruler, in the slowest-to-fastest sequence. Jupiter has no dignity of its own in Leo, so this face is a small, borrowed link. Jupiter and the Sun are both day-team planets under sect, the tradition's sorting of planets into day and night teams. In Dorotheus' triplicity scheme, which names lords for each element's three signs, Jupiter rules the fire signs by night and the Sun by day. That is a second thread between the planets. Leo is masculine, fixed and fire.
